Happy Thanksgiving: Calm In the Midst of the Storm

"My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." 2 Corinthians 12:9 Two weeks ago today, when I was working in Dallas, Texas for Medtronic on a research and development initiative I received an unexpected text from my sister Rachel to let me know that our sister Janice was found in a car slumped over and now was at the hospital in critical condition due to a rare disease order of the blood called T hrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) with the following symptoms: kidney failure, 10 to 14 seizures, anemia, low platelet count (purpura) . The doctors in Corpus Christi, Texas said if she did not get a blood transfusion by 2:00am she would die and that hospital could not do it so she had to be transferred to a hospital that could. I immediately prayed for God's grace to remove this mountain of difficulty in our lives and especially to heal my sister Janice and save her life. I asked him not to take her now. A Woman's Heart - Victory over Fear and Anxiety

Paul writes to Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:7 while he was now in his second imprisonment in Rome, " For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control." [Amplified Bible] Paul is telling us not to be afraid because fear can be very destructive. Paul was in prison, confined to a dungeon and probably had reasons to have a lot to be fearful about, but he knew he could not allow fear to overtake him, because fear can destroy you.
