A Woman's Heart - Victory over Fear and Anxiety

Paul writes to Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:7 while he was now in his second imprisonment in Rome, " For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control." [Amplified Bible]

Paul is telling us not to be afraid because fear can be very destructive. Paul was in prison, confined to a dungeon and probably had reasons to have a lot to be fearful about, but he knew he could not allow fear to overtake him, because fear can destroy you. This Paul who was once named Saul, did not want to be like King Saul of Israel; King Saul was once so full of fear and anxiety that he could not allow even one moment of his people praise and admiration to be given to anyone else. When the people saw how David had slain their enemy, they shouted praise and wrote a song to honor his victorious defeat.
"Saul has slain his thousands,
And David his ten thousands!"

Saul pride swelled up inside of him and he set his heart against David, the shepherd. He persecuted David and he tried to destroy him. His pride turned into jealous, and then paranoia set in. According to Wikipedia, Paranoia is a thought process heavily influenced by anxiety or fear, often to the point of irrationality and/or delusion. Paranoid thinking typically includes persecutory beliefs concerning a perceived threat towards oneself. Historically, this characterization was used to describe any delusional state.

Saul became so paranoid about the threat of David that he thought all of his men had conspired against him as well as the priest Ahimelech and his sons. So Saul turns and kills the priest in his paranoia state. Saul's destruction finally ends on the battlefield when he turns in commits suicide.

Fear and anxiety are emotions that destroy your faith and certainly destroys your peace. If you are dealing with fear and anxiety today please find help, because in fear there is no love. John the disciple of Christ, states it this way, "There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love's complete perfection]." 1 John 4: 18 [Amplified Bible]

Even if your anxiety and fear are mild, pray to God that he remove it so it will not grow. Many relationships are destroyed because people are fearful and paranoid about certain people and situations that may never occur. 90% of the stuff we are afraid is going to happen actually do not happen.

Once paranoia sets in your heart, your mind becomes delusional about what is reality and what is not. You become afraid of losing something that might not be real, and then the dreadful fear sets in your mind only to torment your thoughts. You must rid yourself of fear through pray and faith in Jesus Christ. Don't be satisfied with taking medication only to mask the feeling of anxiety and fear. Ask Jesus to set you free, for it is not from God that you would be fearful or anxious. Jesus tells us to be anxious for nothing! So surely he will help us get rid of fear and anxiety, since he commands us not to have it.

I pray these scriptures for you today:
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” Romans 8:14-15

"Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:13

It is the Lord Who goes before you; He will [march] with you; He will not fail you or let you go or forsake you; [let there be no cowardice or flinching, but] fear not, neither become broken [in spirit--depressed, dismayed, and unnerved with alarm]. Deuteronomy 31: 8[Amplified Bible]

But now thus says the Lord,he who created you, O Jacob,he who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;I have called you by name, you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.—Isaiah 43:1-2

Do not be anxious then, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'With what shall we clothe ourselves?' "For all these things the Gentiles eagerly seek; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you. "Therefore do not be anxious for tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:31-34

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.
—Matthew 10:29-31

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things. Philippians 4:6-8

Heavenly Father, I pray these scriptures for all who read this and ask in Jesus Name that they will be set free right now from fear and anxiety. Lord Jesus, we stand on your words, you said be anxious for nothing and fear not. So we commit our minds to you today and ask you to grant us a sound mind and a peaceful spirit. In Jesus' Name we ask, Amen.

For Him Only,
Pastor Patricia
