How to obtain the peace of God

Image
"Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7.  The only way to experience God's peace is to not worry about anything, pray about everything. It can be hard for the mind to just let things go when the things we need are crucial to our life.  However, the only way to experience God's peace in your life is to make your heart and mind give it to him and trust that it will be done.   I remember asking my Mom to do something that was very important to me.  I asked, and walked way,  and had perfect peace in my heart and mind that she would do it.  I did not worry about it, or look in her room to see if she was doing it. I trusted her with the crucial things in my life and with the things I could not do for myself. Sh

Disappointed in God?

Image
When you are disappointed in a person or about a situation it hurts, but eventually you get over it.  However, when God (Our Heavenly Father) disappoints us we can feel overwhelmed with despair and fear.  We feel as though God has rejected us, and ignored our needs. We ask questions, "Why didn’t God come through for me when He has the power to do so? How will I get through this? " You are my God, my stronghold; why have you rejected me? Why must I walk in gloom (disappointment), oppressed by the enemy? Psalm 43: 1-2 During the days of disappointment, I quickly do a self-evaluation and ask,  "Why am I disappointed?    Is this a selfless want or a selfish want?"    I know in the depths of my heart that He does what is best for my life and me even if I don’t understand it! I refuse to be afraid of what the future holds. If I am expecting Him to take care of me than I am also expecting Him to do what He knows is best for me! He is my redeemer. He is my hope!  P

Rest From The Matters of Life

Image
"Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light." Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT) When I read this passage from Matthew, I realized that Jesus is saying that the matters I am concerned about should not become heavy burdens that I carry day after day.  Carrying the heavy burdens of life on a daily bases wears on your my mind, body and soul. There is a spiritual warfare and a psychological warfare. They both are occuring today in the world . The yoke of life causes us to be harnessed between the two.  However, Jesus knows, He sees, and He has the power to take care of us.  He promises rest for your soul and  peace for your mind.  He knows the end before the beginning. Our LORD  is Omnipotent (all-powerful), Omniscient( all-knowing

Protect Your Mind

Image
The mind holds your life in its hand.  It can become the thinker or the destroyer.  King David who wrote most of the Psalms in the Bible was not always a King and he was not always dancing. There were times when he was running from the enemy and then there were times when he was just laid out on the floor crying out to God.  He went through many dark days and he even cried out to God to take out his enemies. However, when he was in his darkest days, down in the valley of life, he moved from the dark thoughts of his mind to the light of his soul. We are to become light and not darkness. Darkness can only begat more darkness. However, when the light comes  the darkness goes away. When the sun comes out the dark night is gone. The Tanakh (Jewish Bible) translates  Psalm 23 a s following: "The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures (He makes me rest); He leads me to water in places of repose; He renews my life; He guides me in right paths

Don't Let Your Disappointments Stop Your Destiny

Image
Disappointment is faith gone and hope stopped. When we sin, I believe that God is for a brief moment disappointed. However, He never gives up on us. He will carry you through the storm and pick you up from where you are, and put you in His arms. This is what the Lord say, " “Forget the former things;  do not dwell on the past." He is  t he one who made a way through the sea and  a path through the mighty waters of your life.  He is the one who will carry you to your destiny.   When you are disappointed with the situation, turn your thoughts around, and trust that He is doing a new thing.  Who or what you are disappointed in will not stop your destiny when you trust in Him!  Even in the wasteland of disappointment, He will provide  streams of hope. No one can deliver  you out of His hand. When He acts, who can reverse it? When He has determined your destiny, who can stop it? "For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will n

What does it take to get a "big" blessing from God?

Image
Usually when people ask me the question, "What does it take to get a blessing from God?"They are really asking, "What does it take to get a big blessing from God?" God's grace is different from God's blessings.  God's blessings are imparted unto us as a way to strengthen us for the battles we are facing. The Hebrew word "blessed" conveys the idea of being strengthened, of our weakness being compensated for with God’s strength.   There are times we are not living right and yet we receive from God. That is His grace. His unmerited favor. There are times we deserved a punishment and yet we did not receive it. That is His Mercy. But, a blessing  from  God is a gift that is empowerment to be able to do what is not within our natural capabilities!  A gift that strengthens and encourages us. A gift makes an enormous statement about the giver as well as the receiver.  When we give someone a gift we sign our name to it. The gift is an exp

I am not inferior to you

Image
What you know, I know also.  I am not inferior to you."   Job 13:2 (NLT)   Job was  a righteous man who had  everything and was God's servant . One day the evil one came to wrecked his life. His body was weak and his skin was diseased. His friends gave advice that was based on his present condition.  Six months ago, my mother passed away and went home to be with the Lord. She was a very beautiful, tenacious and strong woman. She never let her present situation determine her promised tomorrow. She instilled in us these words, "It is not the outside of the balloon that makes it fly, it is the "stuff" inside."   She would say that no one is inferior to another person. It does not matter where you live, what you do, how you look or your present situation.  Your wealth, possession, looks and status in life does not make you better or worst.  We are inferior to God and God alone.  You must live your life with the purpose God has for you. You uniquel

El-Roi, “The GOD Who Sees”

Image
“ Therefore, Hagar used another named to refer to God. She said, “You are the God who sees me. “ Genesis 16:13b Hagar, and her child were sent out of their home to the desert. She had only food, a container of water, and the clothes on her back. She had nowhere to go.   She wandered aimlessly. Sarah had maltreated her. Because, Hagar had wandered so long, with no place to go, she ran out of food and water. God spoke to her heart and led her to a safe place, and a well full of water! She quickly filled her water container and gave the boy a drink. She had been mistreated before. It was back then when she first realized that “God sees” what happens to her, and now He sees again. The boy grew up to be a father of many nations. His name is Ishmael, Abraham’s eldest son. Life has a way of either making you stronger or making you weaker. I do not know what you are facing today. I am strong in my faith.   I love God.   I know He is all-powerful, all k

A pure heart improves your vision for 2016

Image
Jesus taught us in Matthew 5:8 " Blessed are the pure in heart for they should see God."  Pure means not mixed with anything else!  A heart that is not mixed with evil thoughts and deeds holds the key to seeing the plans God has. Plan to bless you and do you no harm. When your heart is pure you are able to see clearly the plan that God has for you because you have no hidden motives or agendas of your own. You are able to stand in a holy place in your heart and see God. Psalm 24:3-4 declares " Who may climb the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place? Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tells lies."  Through prayer and a pure heart you will be able to breakout of the situation that is holding you back and reach the mountaintop of your destiny. You will be able to break out of your strongholds such as fear, depression, sexual immorality, low self-esteem, hatred, pride, anger, envy, poverty, debt and con
