El-Roi, “The GOD Who Sees”

Therefore, Hagar used another named to refer to God. She said, “You are the God who sees me. “ Genesis 16:13b
Hagar, and her child were sent out of their home to the desert. She had only food, a container of water, and the clothes on her back. She had nowhere to go.  She wandered aimlessly. Sarah had maltreated her. Because, Hagar had wandered so long, with no place to go, she ran out of food and water. God spoke to her heart and led her to a safe place, and a well full of water! She quickly filled her water container and gave the boy a drink. She had been mistreated before. It was back then when she first realized that “God sees” what happens to her, and now He sees again. The boy grew up to be a father of many nations. His name is Ishmael, Abraham’s eldest son.
Life has a way of either making you stronger or making you weaker. I do not know what you are facing today. I am strong in my faith.  I love God.  I know He is all-powerful, all knowing and ever-present.  However, in my weakness, I can stop seeing what He is doing. When I feel mistreated, and broken-hearted, my thoughts wander to places they should not go.  I always try to figure out why? I am very thankful that the Word of God is planted in my heart and mind. When I pray the Word of God becomes alive in me. Suddenly I see things differently.  I realize, just as before, He is El-Roi, the GOD Who Sees. In the Gospel of John, he writes, "In the beginning the WORD already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God." John 1:1-2 (NLT). The WORD is Jesus, and His promises are real. He promises to love you, care for you, and do you no harm.  In the good or the bad times, the valley or the mountain, the Word and a promise from Him will keep you going. He will see you through it. Today’s promises bring tomorrow’s blessings.

“Dear Lord,  help me to remember that you see everything that is happening in my life. No weapon that the Evil One forms against me will prosper. Even in death there is victory.  When I take my last breath, and I open my eyes, I want to see You on the other side.  Help me to obey in the good times and in the bad. Help me to know when I am wandering away from You. Please receive my pray.  For I know that you will answer when I call. In Jesus, precious and mighty name, I pray. Amen.”

By His Grace, Love, and Mercy;
