Protect Your Mind

The mind holds your life in its hand.  It can become the thinker or the destroyer.  King David who wrote most of the Psalms in the Bible was not always a King and he was not always dancing. There were times when he was running from the enemy and then there were times when he was just laid out on the floor crying out to God.  He went through many dark days and he even cried out to God to take out his enemies. However, when he was in his darkest days, down in the valley of life, he moved from the dark thoughts of his mind to the light of his soul. We are to become light and not darkness. Darkness can only begat more darkness. However, when the light comes  the darkness goes away. When the sun comes out the dark night is gone.

The Tanakh (Jewish Bible) translates Psalm 23 as following:
"The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures (He makes me rest); He leads me to water in places of repose; He renews my life; He guides me in right paths as befits His name. Though I walk through a valley of deepest darkness, I fear no harm, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff -they comfort me. You spread a table for me in full view of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my drink is abundant. Only goodness and steadfast love shall pursue me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD for many long years. "

David wrote this wonderful positive declaration to protect his heart, soul and mind from the Enemy. He declared that he would get through this. He did not have to curse, scream, use vulgar speech or images to express where he was in his life. Moving to victory is not achieved through darkness. He turned to the only One who could lead him through it all. The Shepherd of us all, The LORD, King of Glory.  No wonder he decided to dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of his life.

Jesus said we are to have an abundant life here on earth!  Protect your mind by praying, declaring who God is to you, and believing in the end your drink will be abundant! Let The LORD renew your life. He will take you through the darkest valley of your life, and bring you to the mountain top.
