Winning the Battle of Assurance - You are not forgotten

Have you every prayed and prayed for something and God didn’t do what you wanted him to do? Have you ever hoped for something sincerely and somehow it seemed as though it was never going to happen.

Have you been like David and cried out as he did in Psalm 13, “O Lord, how long will you forget me? Forever? How long will you look the other way? How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul, with sorrow in my heart every day? How long will my enemy have the upper hand? Turn and answer me, O Lord my God! Restore the light to my eyes or I will die?

Many times whether you are single or married; rich or poor, we can feel as though God has forgotten us; forsaken us. And, maybe because your prayers have not been answered you have given up. But, the Father sent me to tell you He has not forgotten you and He will never forsake you. You are not forgotten! You are Not Forsaken!

When people believe that they are forgotten or forsaken they become depressed and angry. But, sometimes our circumstances can make us feel a certain way, but in reality it is not that way.

Right now it may seem as though you are forsaken, but it is not true. At least you have not been forsaken by God. We see this lesson when the Lord commissioned his servant Isaiah ( Isaiah 49:13-16). It reads as following:
Sing for joy, O heavens! Rejoice, O earth! Burst into song, O mountains! For the Lord has comforted his people and will have compassion on them in their sorrow. Yet Zion (symbolic of the church) says, “The Lord has deserted us; the Lord has forgotten us.”

The Lord’s response is Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for a child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you! See, I have written your name on my hand. Ever before me is a picture of Zion’s walls in ruins.

The Lord is saying that men and women may leave or forsake you, but he will not ever forget you, because your name is written in His Hand. He knows your name. The word "know" here means that He is intimate with you. He knows your name and who you are. He knows your needs and your desires. You have nothing to fear, because not only will God wage your battle, He will eliminate a threat to you, and you will never see the enemy come that way again. He has a picture of your life.

Only your faith must remain so strong and deep that you know that God has not forgotten you in spite of you earthly circumstances or what you see or feel.

I know what a strong faith can do for you. I remember when I was younger, I saw how my mother had enough faith that whatever battle she was fighting she knew that God was on her side and everything would be alright. She would say, " The Lord will make a way somehow." I acquired that same kind of faith. I have had people tell me you cannot do this or that and I always remembered what my mother would said. Yes you can! God is on your side and He will make a way! If He ordains it, He will make a way. She said to me one day, that she had never seen the righteous forsaken or his seed go begging for bread. I now know that she was quoting the Book of Psalm. But, those words always gave me hope that I too would never be forgotten.

It is not His desire to forsake you and leave you in poverty, sickness, or disease. It is not his desire for you to struggle all your life. It is His desire to walk with you and protect you. It is His desire to be merciful to you, tend you, feed you, sustain you, maintain you, and comfort you. It is His desire to grant you speedy relief, from all your troubles. It is His pleasure that you not need other people’s gifts or loans, but only His filled and open hand, holy and bountiful; so that you may not ever be shamed or humiliated. He loves you and knows your name.

God said those who wait for Him will never be put to shame. Wait on God no matter what things look like. I guarantee you that things are not always the way they seem. We learned from Paul in Hebrews 6:10 that God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which you have showed toward his name. Sometimes we can feel like a certain person is forgetting about us and we become so desperate that our thoughts over take us and before we know we are angry. Satan wants you to feel forsaken by your spouse, your children, your friends and even your church family. He wants you to feel that you are all alone and have no one, because the minute you believe that you are all alone and no one cares he begins to pry that door open with the "crowbar" of hopelessness and he then opens up the door and attack your thoughts. Words like no one cares or they are always too busy to take care of what I need.

Yes and his most famous trick is for us to believe that God does not even care. But, God does cares for you. Don’t be afraid to trust God with your life. May God bless you who are poor, you who are hungry now, you who weep now, and you who are hated and excluded and mocked and cursed because He cares for you and watches over you. Watch for how God is blessing you. And walk through the door of blessings. Don't look to left or the right, go through the door and to the places where God is blessing.

In His Name,
Pastor Tricia
