A Woman's Heart - How Big is Your Cup?

David states in Psalm 23:5 “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”

David states (and we can too) that God sets an impressive table filled with what he needs to survive. He has the resources and protection that he needs and this all occurs as his enemies watch.

Remember the first verse states that Lord is my Shepherd and I shall lack nothing. Your enemies see that you are God’s friend and child and he is preparing everything that you need for today. So much so your drink is abundant. It is overflowing. I started thinking about how big was the cup? A small cup will still overflow when it is overfilled.

So I thought, I don’t want a small cup, since the earth is the Lord’s and everything that is within it. I want to receive all that He has for me. So I need a big Cup. How do I get this cup?

God is our Father and He will give us the resources we need daily. However, the cup on that table is set by us. It is the only thing on the table that David states is his. He states, “ my cup overflows. “ Everything else is set by God. Therefore, I needed to understand what is this cup and what does it represent for us today?

The cup is a symbol of David’s faith. The cup can be no larger than your faith. Big faith, big cup; small faith small cup. And you must be able to carry the cup.

Faith translates in the Hebrew to the word Trust. So the question is; how much do you trust God to take care of you and to fill your life to the fullness? Jesus stated that He came to give you life and give it abundantly. So question is, what is overflowing in your cup? Is it trust or doubt? God fills your cup of trust with an abundant life of His favor, grace, mercy and goodness. He will not fill a cup of doubt. Remember you will only receive as much as what you believe. Bring your cup of trust for Him to fill it. Leave your cup of doubt behind. Trust God for He has put His spirit upon you. Trust the one who spread out the earth and gave breath to the people upon it. He has a covenant with you that He will never break.

However, the tricky thing is you have to come to the table. If you are not hungry for God and you have no trust to bring, you won’t set at the table with him. And because you don’t set at the table you are a prey for your enemies. Set at the table of devotion daily to converse with Him and then drink the cup of trust while you believe that He will take care of you.
Trust God!

For His Glory;
Pastor Tricia
