Smoothing Out the Rough Edges

In Isaiah 62, Isaiah the prophet is praying for Jerusalem and the text states that God told him to smooth out the road; pull out the boulders; raise a flag for all the nations to see for their Savior is coming! I found this to be amazing. I would have thought that the Lord could come no matter what condition the road was in. However, God sees a need to make a smooth path in the road for the Lord to show up in their lives. A growing population of people (young or old) are now just rude to each other. Some people enjoy insulting other people. However, Proverbs 20:20 states, "If you insult your father or mother, your light will be snuffed out in total darkness." Yikes! Even children are known by the way they act. Every human being here on earth was created by God and is here to serve a purpose. Don't let your light be snuffed out. You cannot glorify God and Satan at the same time. Maybe life is harder than usual in today's world; given the economy and high unemployed rate. However, is it necessary to be spiteful and rude to each other? We need to smooth out the hard, rough road of our hearts and let God in. Being rough around the edges, rude and having a hard heart makes it difficult for Love to get in. Stop the bad boy/bad girl image and let someone love and care for you. I know that times are tough and some of you are saying, "This is just the way I am." Guess what? It is not the way you have to be. Do you know that the way you behave has an affect on your future? You will never get to where your true destiny is by being rude and ill-mannered. God has a plan for your life and it includes you being nice. Just be nice this week and stop all the "bad" behavior. I know some people believe that nice people finish last, but the Scriptures teaches us in Revelation that in the end, "The last shall be first!" You will be first where it matters. Then God will rejoice over you as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride. You are not accountable for what other people do. The only behavior you can change is your own. Smooth out the rough edges of your life and let love in. For His Glory, Pastor Tricia
