Wisdom for the Season
“A
wise person is hungry for knowledge, while the fool feeds on trash.” Proverbs 15:14
Lately,
more than usual, I have noticed that people seem to be without guidance and
direction for their life. It is as
though the world all around us is a desert for wisdom and a paradise for
foolishness. Even the paths of our
leaders have found their steps among the foolish things of this world. Proverbs
15:21 states, “Foolishness brings joy to those with no sense; a sensible person
stays on the right path.”
The
wise person is indeed hungry for knowledge and lives for it. For example, a wise person who wants to
truly get out of debt will begin to study financial matters.
I
have learned that it is not wise or sensible to ignore your income and pretend
as though you have more money than you actually have. Yes, you can charge it, but you still have to pay it! The
bill will come in sooner or later.
And because you use debit/credit cards it feels as though you are not
really spending your cash. However,
you are spending your cash and maybe even your future cash.
I
know you are saying, “It’s Christmas!” Just because it is Christmas do you feel obligated to spend money
you don’t have? If you do you will be unhappy sometime soon.
Gifts within themselves do not make Christmas. They are an expression of
our love, but they cannot substitute for the love you need to give or get from
your family. We give gifts because Christ was the gift given to us. However, God tell us to owe no man
anything. So if you don’t have it,
free yourself up and give your family the gift of love. You still have to count
what you have and understand what you don’t have.
Also,
during this holiday season stores are looking to make profit and increase their
cash flow; they are going to try very hard to get you to buy into the fact that
you can have it all now and don’t worry about how you are going to pay for it
later. Don’t be foolish, and remember there is treasure in the house of the
godly, because if is fill with the gift of Love.
Do
yourself a favor and do not feed on the trash of “you deserve it”, “the
children will not understand”, and “if you loved me you would….” People ruin
their lives by their own foolishness and then are angry with the Lord. Wisdom
lives together with good judgment. So use good judgment!
My
intent is to be a voice in the desert crying to the world to accept the gift of
Christ, because all other gifts only bring temporary happiness. We celebrate
Christmas because of His birth, let us live because of His death! He set the
standards and gave himself instead of presents. Your time and love is the best present you can give
anyone.
For His Glory;
