Carry someone today

"Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me." Matthew 25:34-40

We live in a time when we must take precautions to stop and help someone.   However, if we are to be the hands and feet of Jesus, we must stop.  I was in New York City visiting my son William for his 30th birthday. We were on the way to the place where he was to receive his gift, when he noticed a homeless lady on the street.  He said, "Mom I am concerned about her."  I stopped and went back to this lady. I stooped down, touched her face, and held her in my arms. She was sitting on the ground, wrapped in an old coat and tethered clothes, waiting for the doors of the church to open. Of course, I helped her, with what I had to give.  All the while thinking, if it was not for the grace of God this could be me.

We become the good Samaritan ( the person who stops to care) , when we remember that it could be us on the side of the road, on the streets of the city, who have been beaten and left to die. It could be you or someone you know who is hungry, thirsty, sick, and homeless. The way to have true compassion for another person is to remember that it could be you. Jesus said, "Love your neighbor as you would love yourself."   It is His way of saying it could be you, but it is Me.

It doesn’t matter who you help, but if you see someone in need, stop and have true compassion for them. You will be blessed by our Heavenly Father. Remember the LORD will say to you,Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.”
To those in need may He provide a double portion, according to Isaiah 61:7“Instead of your shame you will have a double portion, And instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land, Everlasting joy will be theirs. "

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I will stop today and be the hands and feet of Jesus. I won’t preach a sermon or quote a scripture. I will not help someone just, because I believe that you will give me something in return. It is your will that as your servant, I give mercy and grace to those in need. Help me to help someone today, and may they receive a double portion. In Jesus Name, I pray. Amen
