Peace in the Midst of a Pandemic

"What I am leaving with you is Shalom [Peace] - I am giving you my shalom. I don't give the way the world gives. Don't let your yourselves be upset or frightened. [John 14:27 CJB]"

Peace is defined as freedom from disturbance; tranquility.  Jesus gave us  his peace, calmness, not like the world's peace.  What is the difference between the world’s peace versus Jesus' kind of peace? Jesus' words before this verse gives us a clue. Jesus said that the Holy Spirit is to be our Counselor (Parakletos). During your troubled and difficult trials the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth (John 15:26;16:37) will comfort and provide us  truth and peace.

The world cannot give this kind of peace because it does not accept Him neither sees Him nor knows Him. Yet He is real and active in the believer's life. The Spirit is unnoticed by the unsaved who have no spiritual life. The peace the Lord gives comes from the Holy Spirit. The peace that the world gives is wrapped in sin.

If you belong to Jesus the Messiah, our Lord and Savior has left us perfect peace. Prefect peace is our legacy. "So, since we have come to be considered righteous by God. because of our trust, let us continue to have shalom with God through our Lord, Yeshua the Messiah." [Romans 5:1 CJB] Because your sins were forgiven the "peace of God" will guard your life. The world is unable to give us the peace of God. Remember, you are a new being with the presence of the Holy Spirit inside of you.  He gives you the power to remain calm throughout the trials and tribulations you are or may be facing in the future, including this pandemic virus.

The Lord Jesus has not left us orphans. He gave us the Holy Spirit and great power to remain calm during this present "storm" across the world. Get your mind ready for work, keep yourself under control, and fix your hopes fully on the gift the Holy Spirit has given you for such a time as this. Immerse yourself in the reality of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Remain calm and carry on. Don't let yourself be upset or frightened. Carry peace to the dark situations, trials and tribulations of your life and others. It is your legacy!

May shalom be within your ramparts, prosperity in your palaces. For the sake of my family and friends, I say "Shalom be within you!" Psalm122:7-8 [CJB]
