Playing by the Rules - Going from Favor to Miracles

As a Senior Manager at a Defense company in Boston, MA area, I have learned that one thing that is absolutely imperative - you must play by the rules.

I have encountered Christians who believe instead that they should be the exception to rules. They believe that they don't have to follow the rules of bill paying, state laws, company policy and somehow they think when they get away with it, it's favor. Crazy thinking. My childhood Pastor, Rev. H.C. Dilworth, preached one Sunday when I was sixteen years old, "You can get by, but you can't get away." It definitely made an impact on me since it was over 38 years ago and I still remember. But God favors never breaks policies or laws or promises you make to pay your bills. God favors is a supernatural anointing that open doors for you, but you must first follow the rules. For example, in order for you to get the job you want you must do the same as all applicants. You must apply, then you must meet the minimum requirements. Where God favors come through is when the employer picks your application and choose you for the interview out of 30 other applicants. You interview and then during the interview God gives you exceptional knowledge. Behold, you land the job. That is a real example of favor.

I think most people confuse favor with miracles, and therefore they don't prayer correctly. You need to know when you need favor versus when you need a miracle. Here is an example when you need a miracle. You applied for that same job and you met the qualifications; you got the interview, but you were so nervous you forgot most of the things you actually know during the interview session. Now you need a miracle! You met the qualifications, you are excellent in your particular field, but this fact did not come through when you interviewed. That is the time to pray not for favor but for a miracle! It is not about the employer chosing you over someone else (that's favor), but at this point you need the employer not to throw your application away and still choose you over the others (that would be a miracle).

When you follow the rules, you follow God commandments. You will automatically have favor. When you are consistently obeying his commandments the favor factor is always operating. When you are very full of faith, you know what the Scriptures say about Jesus. So you are now playing on a total different field than all the casual Christians. You no longer pray for favor , you pray for miracles because you know you have favor.

When was the last time you have prayed for a miracle in your finances? I am sure most people prayed for favor in their finances. They feel as though they don't deserve to have their financial needs met, because they know they have not being right with taking care of their financial affairs. So what do they do, they pray for favor. Go ahead ask for favor because you need it, but one day I hope you can get past asking for favor and begin asking for miracles and expecting Him to do it. Pray and be specific, but take some time and ask yourself, do I follow God rules? Am I in right standing with God and men? If the answer is yes. Know that you have favor already. Then ask yourself what do I need that is not possible to be done in the natural. I have favor, but I need supernatural improvement in my finances. I need the curse of poverty to be broken for me and for all generations of my family. 3 John 2 states, "God's will is for you to prosper and be in health as your soul prospers." The Lord has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant, and Abraham's blessings are yours (Gal. 3:14;Ps 35:27) Poverty is a curse just as surely as sickness and spiritual death are curses. But Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law. God said in Deuterononmy 28 if you keep my commandments you will receive financial prosperity, but if you disobey my commandment you have the curse of poverty and financial destruction. Jesus has redeemed us from the curse, but He said if you love me you will keep my commandments also. Even Jesus requires us to keep God commandments. Jesus is asking us to play by the rules so that we can be blessed with favor every second of the day. Then anything is possible for you!
I am not talking about your salvation. You are not saved by the law, you are saved by grace. I am just giving you an idea how to go from favor to miracles. If you break the rules confess your sins and God will be faithful to forgive and restore you back to favor. Then watch the miracles follow.

In His Name and I am praying that you have a financial miracle this year!
Pastor Tricia
