Winning the Battle of Life: God is my Refuge!

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you knew others were trying to cause you trouble or destroy your good works? Have you had your reputation to be at risk because someone slandered your good name? Well if you have you must know that God is a refuge for you in time of trouble. Isaiah 25:4, "For you have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in distress, shelter from the storm, shade from the heat- for the blast ruthless was like a storm that could destroy a wall."

When I look at this text it speaks to my soul, and I am reminded that God is my refuge and my shelter from the storm of life and no matter how strong the blast of life may be coming at me, God is my refuge, my strength, my Helper and my shelter. A shelter is a basic structure or building that provides cover. I am here to tell you that there is nothing basic about God. He has provided for us a fortress, a strong tower and the righteous run into it and is save, but when enemy runs into it he is destroy. So what is this shelter that God has made? Well he has provided for you a legion (thousands) of angels assigned to you personally, on your behave. Yes, even a Guardian angel who makes sure everything goes according to God's plan. Jesus and the Holy Spirit intercede for us and God provides a way out from our troubles.

That is a pretty strong front. And, when we pray we must remember that we have this protection already set up for us. God does not have to think about how to do this. The Fortress of protection is already provided.

And when King David wrote about God is a refuge for him it was at that time of his life when it seemed as though everyone and everything was coming against him. David wrote about people who wanted to cause him trouble, in Psalm 62:4 that as a leader, they only want to shake him from his height, they take delight in lying; with their mouths they bless, but inwardly they curse. Then, David gives us the wisdom we need to deal with our circumstances in time of trouble. He states the following:
1) Wait in silence: vs. 5 - "My soul, wait in silence for God alone, because my hope comes from him."
2) Do not be moved by what others say or do - vs. 6 "He alone is my rock and salvation, my stronghold; I won't be moved."
3) Trust and Rest on God - vs. 7 "My safety and honor rest on God. My strong rock and refuge are in God. Trust in him, people, at all times; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us!"

God has heard you and he will protect you from trouble. Don't think for one second that He is not watching what others may try to do. He knows and he sees. Use Jesus' name and call on him. All you have to do is say, "Jesus save me from this." And just like with Peter drowning in the sea, he will reach down take your hand and save you from your troubles.

One last thing: Remember that our God is clothed in power. At His great power our enemies cringe. Go to your safe tower in prayer and see what God will do. The Lord will be gracious to you and bless you. He will make his face shine on you so that you may know who He is even in trouble. May those who take pleasure in doing you harm be turned back and put to confusion. I pray if you need him today, He will not delay. In Him take refuge and you will never be ashamed.

For Him Only;
Pastor Patricia
