Winning The Battle: What is True Deliverance
"The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles." Psalm 34:17
Deliverance is the act of delivering, a state of being delivered. It comes from the basic word deliver, it is to be set free, to be saved from something objectionable, to give up, to hand over.
God promises us that he will deliver us from the things that bind us. Jesus said he came to set the captive free. Are you trapped in a situation? Jesus said in his word he came to set you free.
You may ask, deliverance from what?
I think if you just sit and think about it, you'll know in your heart what you need to be delivered from or what you have been delivered from. The extend of deliverance is vast across the human conditions of this world. It can be from eating too much to being delivered from child slavery or prostitution.
True deliverance is achieving freedom from that which binds you and keep you from being all that is possible for you to be. You can be set free from whatever is binding you up including destructive habits ( such as drugs and alcohol), sickness and disease, depression, abusive situations, bad relationships and a mountain of debt.
The Scripture tells us in Psalm 91 that God will be a refuge or hiding place, a fortress or a place of protection for you. Under His protection He will deliver you and keep you from the snares of this world.
Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
(Psalm 91:3)
The snare which wicked men, fallen angels and demons set for the righteous. He will provide his protection and care. Do not be afraid of what comes during the night or day for God will take care of you.
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
(Psalm 91:5,6)
Deliverance will come to the righteous. Be persistent in your prayers and you shall see the wicked fall.

Take the Bumblebee:
The body of a bumblebee is too big, its wingspan too narrow, for it to be able to fly; yet it flies around anyway doing what God made it to do. It has been delivered from its natural capabilities and restriction & constraints. It defies the laws of nature, but adheres to the law of God. It does what is impossible given its makeup. But when you have been delivered you can achieve what you were meant to do. You can fly in spite of the odds against you.

Before you came to Christ, Satan had a plan of attack to destroy you. He had a decree against your very existence. Under the first decree he wanted to kill, steal and destroy your life. But when you came to the Lord Jesus and acknowledged Him as your Savior, you came under a new decree, a new covenant. A covenant of grace and love, and the old is past away. This new decree tell us that our Lord Jesus has already destroyed the Enemy, Satan. But sometime we live the rubbish from the old decree and therefore we need to counterattack the old decree with the New decree. We need to find out what God said about us, and then pray according to his word. Pick a topic that you need deliverance from and search the Scriptures. Pray those Scriptures over your life and watch your true deliverance come!
